ICICI Direct copy trading, built on the Breeze API

Connect your ICICI Direct accounts through the Breeze API, choose which one is the parent, and its orders are mirrored into every linked account with your own multiplier applied to each. Child accounts can sit at any supported broker.

Integration

How QuantGrid connects to ICICI Direct

QuantGrid connects to ICICI Direct's Breeze API and watches the order book over its REST API, which is the source of record for replication on every supported broker. Two things the Breeze API does not permit are worth knowing before you connect an account, and both come from SEBI's rules on retail algorithmic trading rather than from us: market orders, and intraday (margin) orders.

QuantGrid authenticates with the Breeze API, reads your parent account's order book on a continuous poll, and normalises every event into the same internal format used for the other supported brokers. An ICICI parent can drive a child at any of them, and the reverse.

ICICI names an instrument by its own scrip code rather than by its ticker: Axis Bank is AXIBAN and Reliance is RELIND. QuantGrid holds ICICI's published security master and resolves it for you, so an order arriving from a Zerodha or Angel One parent lands on the right ICICI contract without you mapping anything.

  • Orders are watched by polling ICICI's order book, the same way every supported broker is
  • Equity and F&O on NSE, BSE, NFO and BFO
  • MARKET ORDERS ARE NOT PERMITTED on the Breeze API. Where a market order would go, QuantGrid places a limit close to the live price instead, and tells you the price it used
  • INTRADAY (margin) orders are not permitted either, so an intraday trade is reported as not copied rather than placed as a delivery order
  • Sign in through ICICI once each trading day: it offers no unattended login, so nothing can renew the session for you
  • Instruments are addressed by ICICI's own scrip codes, which QuantGrid resolves from their published security master
  • Cross-broker replication: an ICICI Direct account can be a parent or a child

Connect

Connect ICICI Direct in three steps

Setup is a one-time job and usually takes a few minutes. Nothing is replicated until you explicitly link a parent to a child and save a multiplier.

  1. 01

Register an app on the Breeze API portal

Create an app and set its redirect URL to the one QuantGrid shows you. Copy the App Key and Secret Key back into QuantGrid.

  2. 02

    Register your dedicated address

QuantGrid assigns your account a dedicated static IP. Add it to the app's static IP setting. ICICI requires every order to arrive from a registered address, so nothing will be placed until this is saved.

  3. 03

Link accounts and set your rules

Mark one account as the parent, add your child accounts, and set a copy factor and max quantity for each one. Replication starts on the next order the parent places.

Want the full order path first? Read how it works, or book a free demo and we will do the first link with you on the call.

Authorisation

Sessions, tokens and revoking access on ICICI Direct

Broker sessions are governed by the broker, not by QuantGrid. Here is exactly how that behaves so nothing surprises you at 9:15 in the morning.

You sign in on ICICI's own site

QuantGrid sends you to ICICI Direct, you sign in there, and ICICI sends you back with a session. Your ICICI password and your two-factor code are entered on ICICI's page and never reach QuantGrid: the only credentials stored here are the App Key and Secret Key of the app you created, which are not enough to sign in as you.

ICICI offers no unattended login, so this is a daily step

Some brokers publish a way for software to sign in on your behalf from a stored key. ICICI does not: a session can only start from a sign-in you complete yourself. That is worth weighing before you make an ICICI account your parent, because while it is signed out its orders are not watched and nothing it trades is copied.

Market orders are not permitted, and that is SEBI's rule rather than ours

Under SEBI's circular on retail participation in algorithmic trading, the Breeze API does not accept market orders at all. Wherever this platform would place one, on a copy, a square-off or a rebalance, it places a limit close to the live price instead and records the price it used. That fills in almost every case, but a limit is not a market order: in a violent move it can fail to fill, so a square-off on an ICICI account is not the certainty it is elsewhere.

Intraday orders are not permitted either

The same rules bar margin (intraday) orders through the Breeze API. An intraday trade on your parent is therefore reported as not copied to an ICICI child rather than quietly placed as a delivery order, which would leave you holding a position you expected the broker to close.

One static IP, reserved to your account

Your API traffic leaves from a dedicated static IP address that is never shared with another customer. Where a broker lets you restrict API access to a whitelisted address, you have one stable address to whitelist, and your activity is never mixed with anyone else's. See the security practices.

Pairing

Running ICICI Direct alongside the other live brokers

An ICICI Direct account works as a parent or as a child, in any combination with the other supported brokers. As a PARENT it is unrestricted: whatever it trades is read and copied normally, market orders included, because the restriction is on what the Breeze API will place rather than on what it will report. As a CHILD there are two things to plan around, both SEBI's rather than ours: a market order becomes a protective limit, and an intraday trade is not copied at all. Everything else is handled on the way through, including ICICI's own scrip codes and the four separate fields it uses to name a derivative.

ICICI Direct as parent

Drive children at any live broker

Orders placed in your ICICI Direct parent account replicate into child accounts at ICICI Direct, Zerodha, Angel One, FYERS, Groww, Motilal Oswal, Upstox, Nuvama Wealth, Dhan, Kotak, Tradejini and IIFL, each with its own copy factor and max-quantity cap.

ICICI Direct as child

Follow a parent at another broker

A ICICI Direct account can equally be the follower. A parent at Zerodha or Angel One or FYERS or Groww or Motilal Oswal or Upstox or Nuvama Wealth or Dhan or Kotak or Tradejini or IIFL drives it, with symbol and product-type translation applied automatically on every order.

See the full parent and child matrix for every supported combination.

Pricing

What ICICI Direct replication costs

One price per broker account you connect: its dedicated static IP, with every feature included. ICICI Direct's API accepts IPv6, so that is what its accounts are issued, at the lower of the two prices. There is no platform fee, no per-child software surcharge and no share of anything you trade.

Dedicated static IPv6

Every feature included

₹500per 30 days + 18% GST

per broker account

What your account is issued wherever the broker accepts IPv6.

Dedicated static IPv4

Every feature included

₹800per 30 days + 18% GST

per broker account

What your account is issued where the broker cannot take IPv6.
