Integration
How QuantGrid connects to Motilal Oswal
QuantGrid integrates with Motilal Oswal OpenAPI for authentication, order placement and portfolio reads. Motilal identifies every instrument by a numeric token rather than a symbol and counts quantity in lots rather than units, so QuantGrid holds their instrument list and converts both on the way out. You configure the same copy factor and maximum quantity you would for any other broker, and the lot comes from the exchange's own contract file.
QuantGrid authenticates with Motilal Oswal OpenAPI, reads your parent account's order book on a continuous poll, and normalises every event into the same internal format used for the other supported brokers. A Motilal parent can drive a child at any of them, and the reverse.
Two things about Motilal are unlike the others, and QuantGrid absorbs both. Orders identify an instrument by a numeric token rather than by a symbol, so QuantGrid holds Motilal's published instrument list and resolves the token for you. And quantity is counted in lots rather than in units, so the number you configure in units is converted on the way out.
- Continuous order-book polling picks up parent orders
- Equity and F&O on NSE, BSE, NFO and BFO
- Instruments are addressed by Motilal's numeric token, which QuantGrid resolves from their published list
- Quantity is converted to whole lots, and an order that is not a whole multiple is refused rather than rounded
- Motilal checks the address an order arrives from, so a dedicated IPv4 address is required
- Cross-broker replication: a Motilal Oswal account can be a parent or a child

Connect Motilal Oswal in three steps
Setup is a one-time job and usually takes a few minutes. Nothing is replicated until you explicitly link a parent to a child and save a multiplier.
- 01
Get OpenAPI access from Motilal Oswal
Request API access from Motilal and note the API key, the API secret and the TOTP secret. You will also need your trading password and the PAN or date of birth registered on the account.
- 02
Whitelist your dedicated IPv4 address
QuantGrid assigns your account a dedicated static IPv4 address. Add it in Motilal's API settings. Motilal checks the address on every order, so nothing will be placed until this is done.
- 03
Link accounts and set your rules
Mark one account as the parent, add your child accounts, and set a copy factor and max quantity for each one. There is no lot size to enter: every copy is sized in the contract's own exchange lot, which QuantGrid reads from the exchange's contract file, so it reaches Motilal as a whole number of lots.

Authorisation
Sessions, tokens and revoking access on Motilal Oswal
Broker sessions are governed by the broker, not by QuantGrid. Here is exactly how that behaves so nothing surprises you at 9:15 in the morning.
Sign-in uses your credentials and a TOTP code
Motilal has no redirect login page, so QuantGrid signs in automatically using your API key, API secret, trading password, your PAN or date of birth, and the TOTP secret Motilal issues you. You paste them once and there is no browser step to repeat.
Motilal checks the address every order arrives from
Motilal validates the public address a request comes from and refuses anything from anywhere else. This is why a Motilal account needs a dedicated static IP rather than merely benefiting from one, and why the address must be IPv4: Motilal's order endpoint publishes no IPv6 address.
Revoke from Motilal at any time
The API access you granted can be withdrawn in your Motilal Oswal account. The moment you do, QuantGrid loses access and stops placing orders into it.
One static IP, reserved to your account
Your API traffic leaves from a dedicated static IP address that is never shared with another customer. Where a broker lets you restrict API access to a whitelisted address, you have one stable address to whitelist, and your activity is never mixed with anyone else's. See the security practices.
Pairing
Running Motilal Oswal alongside the other live brokers
A Motilal Oswal account works as a parent or as a child, in any combination with the other supported brokers. The differences that matter are handled on the way through: an instrument named by symbol on a Zerodha parent becomes Motilal's numeric token, and a quantity in units becomes a count of lots. A quantity that will not divide into whole lots is refused and reported rather than rounded, because rounding it would trade a size you never asked for.
Motilal Oswal as parent
Drive children at any live broker
Orders placed in your Motilal Oswal parent account replicate into child accounts at Motilal Oswal, Zerodha, Angel One, FYERS, Groww, Upstox, Nuvama Wealth, ICICI Direct, Dhan, Kotak, Tradejini and IIFL, each with its own copy factor and max-quantity cap.
Motilal Oswal as child
Follow a parent at another broker
A Motilal Oswal account can equally be the follower. A parent at Zerodha or Angel One or FYERS or Groww or Upstox or Nuvama Wealth or ICICI Direct or Dhan or Kotak or Tradejini or IIFL drives it, with symbol and product-type translation applied automatically on every order.
See the full parent and child matrix for every supported combination.
Pricing
What Motilal Oswal replication costs
One price per broker account you connect: its dedicated static IP, with every feature included. Motilal Oswal needs IPv4, for the reason below. There is no platform fee, no per-child software surcharge and no share of anything you trade.
Dedicated static IPv4
Every feature included₹800per 30 days + 18% GST
per broker account
What your account is issued where the broker cannot take IPv6.
The cheaper IPv6 address is not offered for Motilal Oswal, because it would not work. Orders reach Motilal Oswal at openapi.motilaloswal.com, which published no IPv6 (AAAA) record when we last checked it on 22 August 2026. An IPv6-only address cannot open a connection to an IPv4-only host, so every order would fail. Motilal Oswal accounts need the IPv4 address above. See the dated reading for every broker.
