Upstox · Upstox API v3
Upstox copy trading, built on Upstox API v3
Link your Upstox accounts, mark one as the parent, and every order it places is mirrored into the others with your own multiplier applied to each. Child accounts can sit at any supported broker.
Integration
How QuantGrid connects to Upstox
QuantGrid connects to Upstox API v3 and listens on its portfolio stream, which reports every order on the account including ones you place in the Upstox app itself. Orders are placed over the v3 REST API, and Upstox was the first supported broker to offer both a sign-in page and an unattended daily login, so you choose which you prefer.
QuantGrid subscribes to the Upstox portfolio stream for your parent account, which reports every order on that account as it happens. That includes orders you place yourself in the Upstox app: the stream does not distinguish between them, so a trade you take on your phone is copied exactly like one placed through an API.
Child orders go over the v3 REST API. Upstox names an instrument by its own key rather than by a symbol, so QuantGrid holds their published instrument list and resolves it for you, and translates symbols and product types between brokers on the way through.
- Order updates arrive on the Upstox portfolio stream, and report orders placed anywhere, not just through QuantGrid
- Equity and F&O on NSE, BSE, NFO and BFO
- Sign in through Upstox once a day, or let QuantGrid do it for you if you have TOTP enabled
- Stop-loss market orders copy to an Upstox account, which not every supported broker accepts
- Cross-broker replication: an Upstox account can be a parent or a child

Connect Upstox in three steps
Setup is a one-time job and usually takes a few minutes. Nothing is replicated until you explicitly link a parent to a child and save a multiplier.
- 01
Create an app at Upstox Developer Apps
Register an app and paste in the redirect URL that QuantGrid shows you. Copy the API key and secret back into QuantGrid.
- 02
Whitelist your dedicated address
QuantGrid assigns your account a dedicated static IP. Add it to the app's static IP setting. Upstox blocks order placement from an address it does not recognise, so nothing will be placed until this is saved.
- 03
Link accounts and set your rules
Mark one account as the parent, add your child accounts, and set a copy factor and max quantity for each one. Replication starts on the next order the parent places.
Want the full order path first? Read how it works, or book a free demo and we will do the first link with you on the call.
Authorisation
Sessions, tokens and revoking access on Upstox
Broker sessions are governed by the broker, not by QuantGrid. Here is exactly how that behaves so nothing surprises you at 9:15 in the morning.
You choose how you sign in
Upstox, Dhan and Nuvama Wealth all offer both. Sign in through Upstox's own page once a day, the way Zerodha and FYERS work, or let QuantGrid sign in for you each morning. Nothing about replication changes either way.
Automatic sign-in needs TOTP on your Upstox account
Without TOTP, Upstox can only send a code to your phone, and nothing unattended can read one. Enable TOTP in the Upstox app, store the setup key here with your PIN, and QuantGrid signs in before the market opens. If it ever fails, the sign-in link still works.
Sessions end at 3.30 a.m., by Upstox's design
Every Upstox access token expires at 03:30 IST, whatever time it was created, and Upstox publishes no way to extend one. QuantGrid holds the session until then and either renews it for you or asks you to sign in, depending on which you chose.
One static IP, reserved to your account
Your API traffic leaves from a dedicated static IP address that is never shared with another customer. Where a broker lets you restrict API access to a whitelisted address, you have one stable address to whitelist, and your activity is never mixed with anyone else's. See the security practices.
Pairing
Running Upstox alongside the other live brokers
An Upstox account works as a parent or as a child, in any combination with the other supported brokers. It is also one of only two brokers here that accept every order type this platform models, so a parent's stop-loss market order reaches an Upstox child as a stop-loss market order rather than being reported as uncopyable. The differences that matter are handled on the way through: an instrument named by symbol elsewhere becomes Upstox's own instrument key, and quantity needs no conversion because Upstox counts in units exactly as the rest of the platform does.
Upstox as parent
Drive children at any live broker
Orders placed in your Upstox parent account replicate into child accounts at Upstox, Zerodha, Angel One, FYERS, Groww, Motilal Oswal, Nuvama Wealth, ICICI Direct, Dhan, Kotak, Tradejini and IIFL, each with its own copy factor and max-quantity cap.
Upstox as child
Follow a parent at another broker
A Upstox account can equally be the follower. A parent at Zerodha or Angel One or FYERS or Groww or Motilal Oswal or Nuvama Wealth or ICICI Direct or Dhan or Kotak or Tradejini or IIFL drives it, with symbol and product-type translation applied automatically on every order.
See the full parent and child matrix for every supported combination.
Pricing
What Upstox replication costs
One price per broker account you connect: its dedicated static IP, with every feature included. Upstox's API accepts IPv6, so that is what its accounts are issued, at the lower of the two prices. There is no platform fee, no per-child software surcharge and no share of anything you trade.
Dedicated static IPv6
Every feature included₹500per 30 days + 18% GST
per broker account
What your account is issued wherever the broker accepts IPv6.
Dedicated static IPv4
Every feature included₹800per 30 days + 18% GST
per broker account
What your account is issued where the broker cannot take IPv6.
